Expansion of the wire draw facilities and installation of four new draw machines at Fostoria and one new draw machine at Saukville are addressing customers’ desires for comprehensive, reliable, one-stop suppliers.

The expansion is part of the larger capital improvements program that updated other facilities and capabilities at Charter, all designed to strengthen the company’s commitment to customized customer solutions.

Production Capacity Increased

The upgrades at Fostoria required an expansion of the processing facility of about 42,000 square feet.

Installation is occurring in stages. Three machines have been installed and are in the validation phase, while two remaining units will be installed before the end of the year or by early 2026 to complete the expansion,

We estimate about 15 employees will be added to the crews to help run the additional wire draw machines in Fostoria.

Why this expansion?

Expansion of our wire draw capabilities reflects our will to grow and our commitment to better serve our customers by being a trusted steel partner they can rely on.

Customers will have one consistent team of experts to service them throughout the entire steelmaking process from melting and rolling to processing. In some cases, this will provide customers the ability for one-stop shopping, by having one purchase order for the finished product instead of multiple orders. Ultimately, saving customers time and resources.
