Charter Steel’s Custom Approach to EV Rotor Shaft Manufacturing

Challenge:

While designing a rotor shaft application for an electric vehicle (EV), a precision machining facility encountered inefficiencies due to subpar steel surface quality. Seeking a solution and a reliable supply chain for the steel used in the application, they turned to our Charter Steel team for support.

Result:

In response to the customer’s request, we convened a meeting with key representatives from our Commercial, Technical, Operational and Production Planning Management teams to explore the feasibility of the project and how we could meet our customer’s needs. After thorough deliberation about the specifics of adding this solution to our capabilities, we developed a custom process that enabled our customer to provide a rotor shaft, meeting all specifications while improving their machining efficiency.

Solution:

At Charter Steel, we collaborate with our customers early on in their projects to explore the possibilities and develop an approach that will best meet their needs.
